My name is Sonia Neameyer, and I am a Certified Matchmaker & Dating Coach. I’d like to share with you my passion for this business and the journey that led me here.
My professional background includes a broad range of people-focused work: recruiting, coaching, mediation, and more. Nearly a decade ago, I became an expert in the Predictive Index—a leading assessment tool that businesses use to get to know people.
Throughout my career, I’ve learned much about behavioral and organizational psychology—the objective science of bringing people together. But my lifelong interest in human behavior has also given me a remarkable amount of subjective insight into what makes people tick and who fits best with who. It’s this God-given intuition that has made me such an effective “matchmaker” in the corporate world.
I’ve done a lot of truly wonderful things in my career, and I’ve been successful in each of these endeavors. But, as much as I’ve loved many aspects of my previous career, I’ve always felt that something was lacking: a deep passion for my work.
Looking back, I’ve learned that the common thread was my failure to invite God into the process. As Tony Robbins once said, “success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure.” I had plenty of success but not much fulfillment, and the only way to get both was to stop going my way and start going God’s way.
Why did I launch Soul Search?
Because God planted a seed in my heart in 2019. He gave me that passion I’d been looking for—a deep, insatiable desire to bring couples together. Is there anything more important than love? I don’t think so! And so, I took all of that experience and expertise I’d accumulated while making matches for business and I put it to work for love.
Of course, I wanted to do it right, so Soul Search began with extensive research. I thought it was important that I sit in the client’s seat and experience what it feels like to go through the process, so that’s what I did. I typed “professional matchmakers near me” into my phone and chose the best-looking one in my area.
I walked into that process the way so many matchmaking clients do—nervously excited and cautiously optimistic, eager to find out if I’d become one of their next success stories. At the very least, I was looking forward to learning the business from the inside out.
Boy, was I wrong.
It was a profoundly disappointing experience, and I certainly learned what not to do. Even in that disappointment, though, I grew. It stoked the fires in my heart to serve my clients the right way—to partner with them in learning who they are, what they’re looking for, and how to get them where they want to be. Matchmaking isn’t about providing a service; it’s about committing to a client and their relational success.
Broad professional experience, insatiable curiosity, God-given intuition, a knack for personality assessment, care, commitment, connections, compassion—these are the ingredients in the secret sauce that makes Soul Search Chicago’s next premiere matchmaking company.
